Permanent Jewelry in Edmonton, Calgary & Toronto: Prices, Process & What to Expect

Permanent Jewelry in Edmonton, Calgary & Toronto: Prices, Process & What to Expect

Permanent jewelry — the clasp-free bracelet, anklet, or necklace that's custom-fit and welded directly onto you — has gone from niche trend to modern classic. If you're in Edmonton, Calgary, or Toronto and wondering what it costs, how it works, and where to get it done well, here's the complete, honest guide.

What Is Permanent Jewelry, Exactly?

A permanent bracelet (or anklet, necklace, or ring) has no clasp. Instead, a trained stylist fits the chain to your exact wrist, then uses a tiny pulse-arc welder to fuse the final link closed — a quick, completely painless "zap." The result is a seamless piece of jewelry that stays on through showers, workouts, sleep, and everyday life. No clasps to fumble, nothing to take off at night.

It's popular for friendship bracelets, couples' pieces, mother-daughter sets, and bridal parties — but plenty of clients just get one for themselves, because it looks great and eliminates a daily decision.

How Much Does Permanent Jewelry Cost?

Here's our real pricing at Simple Chic (gold-filled & sterling silver):

Piece Price per inch Typical total
Bracelet $11–$16/inch $66–$76
Anklet $10–$16/inch $75–$95
Necklace $6–$10/inch $90–$120
Ring flat $45
Charm add-on each $10–$25

Final pricing depends on the chain you choose and your measurements. There are no hidden fees — the weld service is included.

Want solid gold? We also offer 10k/14k solid gold chains at $25–$45 per inch, available at our Toronto (Eaton Centre, Fairview Mall) and Calgary (Chinook Centre, Market Mall, CrossIron Mills) locations.

Re-welding: if your piece ever snags apart, re-welding is $15–$20 — and it's free within 6 months under our warranty.

The 4-Step Process (Takes About 15 Minutes)

1. Select your chain. Choose from 45+ options in 14k/18k gold-filled or Italian sterling silver (plus solid gold at select locations). Try them against your skin tone — this is the fun part.

2. Get the perfect fit. Snug, relaxed, or somewhere between — your stylist adjusts the chain on your wrist before anything is final. Speak up here; fit is everything.

3. Get zapped (painlessly). A tiny, quick pulse fuses the link. You'll see a small flash and feel nothing. The whole weld takes seconds.

4. Enjoy and show off. Walk out wearing it. That's it — no aftercare routine, no healing period.

Where to Get Permanent Jewelry in Edmonton

West Edmonton Mall and Southgate Centre. Both Edmonton locations offer the full gold-filled and sterling silver menu, charms, and walk-in appointments. Edmonton pricing matches the standard menu above (bracelets $66–$76, anklets $75–$95, necklaces $90–$120). Note: solid gold chains are currently offered at our Toronto and Calgary locations.

Where to Get Permanent Jewelry in Calgary

CF Chinook Centre, Market Mall, and CrossIron Mills. All three Calgary locations offer the complete service — including solid gold chains ($25–$45/inch). Calgary is a great option if you've been eyeing a 10k or 14k solid gold piece.

Where to Get Permanent Jewelry in Toronto

CF Toronto Eaton Centre and CF Fairview Mall. Both Toronto locations offer the full menu including solid gold. Given the GTA's appetite for the trend, booking ahead on weekends is smart — though walk-ins are always welcome.

What to Know Before You Book

  • Walk-ins are welcome at all 7 locations. For groups (bridal parties, birthdays), message us ahead on Instagram @simplechicstudio so we can staff accordingly.
  • It doesn't hurt. The number one question, answered: the welding is painless. You see a flash; you feel nothing.
  • You can remove it. "Permanent" describes the design, not a life sentence. Snip the connecting link with scissors anytime — cutting at the link preserves the chain so we can re-weld it later for $15–$20.
  • Airport security is fine. Our clients fly with welded jewelry constantly; TSA doesn't ask for removal.
  • MRIs vary. Mention it when booking your scan — some clinics ask all jewelry off regardless. If so, snip and we'll re-weld after.
  • Aftercare is minimal. Rinse after hot tubs, give it a soapy brush once a week, and you're done. (We wrote a full aftercare guide if you want the details.)

Why Gold-Filled (and Not Just Plated)?

For something you wear 24/7, material matters enormously. Gold-filled means 5% pure gold by weight, heat-and-pressure bonded over a jeweller's brass core — it's dramatically more durable than thin gold plating and genuinely water-resistant. It's the reason we can warranty every weld for 6 months. Thin plating would wear through in months of constant wear; gold-filled lasts years.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the appointment take? About 15 minutes per piece — most of that is choosing your chain and dialling in the fit.

Does permanent jewelry hurt? No. The weld is a micro-second pulse of light and heat at the link — nowhere near your skin in any meaningful way. Clients consistently say they felt nothing.

Can I get matching pieces with a friend? Yes — it's one of the most popular reasons people come in. Pick the same chain or complementary ones; many groups add matching charms too.

What if my wrist size changes? Come back anytime. Fit adjustments within 6 months are covered by warranty; after that, adjustments and re-welds are $15–$20.

Do I need an appointment? Walk-ins are welcome everywhere, but weekends and event seasons get busy — a quick DM to @simplechicstudio secures your spot, especially for groups.

Which locations offer solid gold? Toronto Eaton Centre, Fairview Mall, and our three Calgary locations (Chinook Centre, Market Mall, CrossIron Mills).
